The Intel Core 2 Duo (C2D) series represents one of Intel’s earliest dual‑core processor families for desktops and laptops. Built on the 45 nm process, these CPUs typically include two execution cores, moderate cache sizes (around 2 – 6 MB L2 cache), and front‑side bus speeds from 800 MHz to 1333 MHz, depending on the model.

C2D chips like the E8400, E7500, or E7300 were commonly paired with LGA‑775 socket motherboards and were popular in mainstream PCs through the late 2000s and early 2010s. They were designed for basic computing tasks such as web browsing, office applications, media playback, and light multitasking. While no longer competitive with modern processors, they remain in use in older systems due to their simplicity and low power consumption.

These processors work with DDR2 or DDR3 memory and standard desktop chipsets (e.g., Intel 965, G31, G41), but lack modern features like multicore hyper‑threading beyond two cores, integrated graphics in most desktop variants, or support for newer instruction sets found in newer Intel generations.
