HIKVISION DVR 8CH

A HIKVISION 8CH DVR (Digital Video Recorder) is a security recording device designed to collect, compress, store, and manage video streams from up to 8 analogue cameras connected via BNC (coax) cables. These DVRs support multiple video formats such as HD-TVI, AHD, CVI, CVBS, and often hybrid connections including IP cameras — giving flexibility in mixed camera setups.

Most modern 8-channel DVRs use H.265 Pro+ video compression, which reduces storage space and bandwidth while maintaining video quality. They provide HDMI and VGA output for live monitoring on displays, motion detection alerts, and remote viewing via apps like Hik-Connect — letting you access live and recorded video on your phone or PC. Some advanced models also include human/vehicle classification (AcuSense) to reduce false alarms and support higher resolutions (up to 8 MP or 4K output).

Most DVRs don’t include a hard drive by default, so you can install a compatible HDD up to 6 – 8 TB for long-term storage. They are commonly used in residential setups, offices, retail stores, schools/colleges, and warehouses.
